"Islip High School has a population of approximately 1,200 students. Our students have diverse backgrounds, coming from more than 40 countries, and representing a broad socioeconomic range.

We are proud of our tradition of excellence in areas such as academic competition, interscholastic athletics, and the fine arts. Islip students have a history of participation in prestigious fine arts summer college programs, and our student musicians have been represented in county, state and national performing groups as well. On the playing fields, our students have achieved comparable successes in winning league, county, and state championships along with national recognition for our individual athletes. In addition, our students have developed a sense of caring and compassion for others through our Habitat for Humanity program–a student-to-community support group, as well as annual efforts to financially support the needy of our area.

Islip High School offers major sequences in several fields of study. In addition to courses required for graduation, students enroll in many other electives according to their interests and future plans. A variety of educational course offerings include: Advanced Placement (AP), Honors (H), Regents (R), Regents with lab (RL), ESL, career training and special education. Fifteen Advanced Placement courses are offered. These courses are available in English, Math, Art, Social Studies, Science, Music and Foreign Language. Regents diploma rates continue to increase, and as a result our seniors have been accepted to many prestigious colleges and universities including Emory University, M.I.T., Stanford University, Carnegie Mellon University, UNC Chapel Hill, George Washington University, Cornell University, Boston University and Fashion Institute of Technology, to name a few.

Our goal at Islip High School is to instill a sense of pride and accomplishment throughout the student body by providing a setting that enables each student to perform to his or her level of ability, and hopefully, beyond. We are committed to educating the whole student while providing an environment which allows them to achieve to the fullest of their potential."
