"Elwood-John H. Glenn High School is a family of approximately 800 students and 100 faculty and staff members nestled in a small North Shore community on Long Island. The profound history which is so much the fabric of our town is reflected in the varied faces of our high school building - the functionality of the tile and brick hallways, the straight lines and practicality of the academic wing and the functional openness of the court yards, cafeteria, auditorium and gym areas - all coming together to form a pleasing and inviting whole."
- Vincent K. Mulieri, Principal, Elwood-John H. Glenn High School

"Elwood-John H. Glenn High School has a continuing tradition of excellence. Each year, members of the senior class achieve SAT scores that rank above the national and state averages. The number of seniors cited by the National Merit Scholarship Program exceeds the national average. Graduating classes have included a number of National Merit Scholarship semifinalists and commended scholars.

We offer a comprehensive curriculum for grades nine through twelve. Courses are reviewed annually and new courses are added to meet changing needs. Included are Advanced Placement and college-level courses, Regents courses that meet and exceed all state requirements, and electives in both academic and technical areas. We also over college level courses through a partnership with St. John’s University that allows students to gain college credits in Spanish and Italian. Students interested in art have participated in fine arts summer programs, and student musicians have performed in national groups.

A full array of extracurricular clubs, performance groups, and interscholastic sports are available. Through our Natural Helpers Program, Operation Respect, and our Community Service Club, students develop a sense of caring and compassion for peers, the young, the old, and the needy.

Our goal is to assist our students to achieve success according to their ability levels and to develop a sense of pride and accomplishment throughout their academic careers."
